Clinic Re-opening Details Regarding Covid-19
We are so happy to announce we are able to open our clinic doors and provide you with hands on treatment once again! As you may notice, our schedules will be slightly different, due to reduced numbers of people we are allowed in the clinic at one time, as well as extra time we must schedule in for enhanced cleaning measures. Some of our staff will also not be able to return for our initial opening, so we may need to book you in with different practitioners.
As you are likely aware, many changes and strict protocols have been put into place in order for us to safely re-open for both our patients and our staff. Please take your time to read through this information so you are well prepared for your appointment. Our detailed Clinic Protocols with Respect to Covid-19 can be found here.
The day before your appointment you will receive a phone call from our reception staff for a quick pre-screening assessment. If you have an appointment Monday, your pre-screening will be done on Friday as we will not have office staff available on weekends. You will also be required to fill out a more indepth screening questionnaire online just prior to your appointment time (ideally within a few hours for best accuracy). If you do not complete this form online before your appointment, your therapist will go through it with you which takes time away from your appointment, so it is best to do online if you can. If you cannot complete it online, please call in advance, and you can go through it with a receptionist. This screening process is mandatory before every appointment. If you have any symptoms at all, it is very important for everyone’s safety that you reschedule your appointment immediately. All staff are required to do the same screening before they arrive at work.
When you arrive for your appointment, it is best that you do not come early because you will have to wait outside or in your car. When it is time for your appointment, you may wait outside the clinic door or upstairs on the deck, and your therapist will come get you when they are ready to take you into the treatment room. We also have a new “self check in” system that you can use if you want to notify your practitioner that you have arrived (instructions here). Because we are limited to the amount of people we are allowed in the clinic at one time, we also ask that you always arrive alone. Special cases will be allowed, such as for a child that cannot attend on their own, in which case we ask that only one family member accompanies them. We are doing our best to stagger appointments so that patients will not be arriving at the clinic at the same time, but if someone else is waiting out front, please respect physical distancing of 2 meters. We will do our best to be on time for every appointment and we ask that you do the same.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
All patients will be required to wear a mask at all times while in the clinic. If you have your own, please arrive wearing it and remember it must cover your mouth and nose. If you do not have a mask, we will provide one for you. Practitioners will also be required to wear a mask at all times when they are with patients. If your child is coming in for treatment, please discuss with them how to properly wear a mask. Safety glasses are always available on request, and may be required for some treatments. All patients must also wash or sanitize their hands when they enter the clinic. Patients will not be allowed to wear gloves when arriving at the clinic. Gloves will be required to be removed and not put back on until the patient leaves the clinic.
Footwear and Clothing:
We will no longer have slippers available to wear around the clinic, so please wear clean footwear to your appointment as we will not require you to take off your shoes at the entry anymore. We also no longer have shorts for you to borrow, so please wear/bring the appropriate clothing with you for proper assessment and treatment.
We will be processing payments “touchless” as much as we can. We will have a new “tap” function available for credit cards soon, as well as e-transfer will be another option. For now we will not be accepting cash.
Other things to note:
Although we always have a restroom available, we encourage you to use your own washroom before coming to the clinic.
We strongly suggest that you bring minimal “stuff” with you into the clinic, and avoid touching anything after you wash your hands when arriving. If you check your phone after washing your hands, you will need to re-wash or sanitize your hands. Please leave everything you can at home or in your car to avoid this. However, we encourage you to bring your own water bottle with you if you will need to hydrate during your appointment, such as with exercise. Hydration is very important after treatment, so we advised that you always have water available in your vehicle for after treatment as we will no longer be able to provide drinking glasses.
In many cases, Telehealth will still be an appropriate option for physiotherapy appointments. It is strongly recommended for any patients that are considered high risk including the elderly or anyone with high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, cancer or compromised immune systems from a medical condition or treatment, such as chemotherapy. Reception hours will be Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, but clinical hours will be extended outside those hours. See our online booking system for up to date clinical hours.
