Stan Metcalfe has practised in Golden since 2003. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Alberta in 1996, then moved to BC to train under leading Canadian educators in orthopaedic manual therapy, including Erl Pettman and Diane Lee. He holds a Fellowship with the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) and is certified in anatomical acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (CAFCI).
Stan’s practice centres on hands-on assessment and treatment, manual therapy, acupuncture, and intramuscular stimulation. He takes the view that pain and weakness rarely have a single explanation, and that persistent problems usually involve several contributing factors — an approach shaped by more than two decades of treating this community. A long-time ski guide, Stan brings first-hand understanding of the physical demands of mountain and ski industry work, and is away guiding for part of each winter.
